The collection consists of a letter dated 22 August, 1860, from Governor Brown to John B. Campbell, secretary of the Quartermaster Department. The letter concerns the purchase of 250 horse artillery sabre belts, 250 holsters and 150 horse artillery sabres. It also contains personal mention of Mrs. Campbell and her small child who are visiting with the Browns, relaying her messages to her husband.
